Binance Controversial Logo Under Reconstruction After it Causes a Stir in the Twitter Community

There have been a series of accusations and criticism from Twitter users on Binance’s viral swastika-shaped customized emoji. The crypto-based company in reaction to the outburst has officially taken down the short-lived logo. They have also disclosed that it will be reconstructed to be more publicly acceptable.

To the majority of the public, the emoji resembled a swastika and it portrayed everything history records about the symbol. The world’s largest crypto exchange company has since received backlash from the users of the Twitter community who have condemned the logo. Many users have claimed that there is a conspiracy theory behind the logo despite Binance claims that the act was accidental.

The management team of Binance further officially implied that it was simply a misrepresentation of ideas on the part of the company. Binance mentioned that it was an embarrassing situation as the logo went through a series of reviews and scrutiny. For Binance, not once had the team noticed that their emoji looked like the swastika.

Why the Swastika Look-Alike Logo Sparked Negative Reactions

Originally an ancient religious symbol, the swastika has been used for different purposes but it was soiled during the Nazis German era of Adolf Hitler’s reign. Today, it represents everything that deals with Nazism or totalitarianism and the terror of Nazis Germany. It is hence understandable that Binance’s choice to use something similar would spark reactions.

The swastika logo is a cross symbol with each arm having an extra arm tilted inward or outward in unison towards the right or left. There are claims that the original swastika logo is of Hindu origin and slightly different from the Nazis version.

The disapproval over the Binance logo was however fueled by the date it was unveiled. It was put out to the general public on the 20th day of April; a day widely known to mark the birth of Adolf Hitler of Nazis Germany.

Public Opinion on the Binance Logo

Many people have considered the act to be deliberately carried out. This is because Twitter gives brands the autonomy to design official brand logos and use hashtags to create awareness. As a highly successful company, Binance designed its brand logo but didn’t get the positive response it sought.

Since introducing its logo to the general public, the Twitter community has shared different ideas. To some users, it is not the German swastika symbol but the Hindu representation. Some others claim that it is an intentional accidental act in compliance with the conspiracy theory.  The latter is a result of Binance’s official statement that the logo went through “layers of review” and still escaped notice from the team.

Conclusion

The Binance logo may not be a celebratory representation of Nazism, but the Chinese company has taken actual steps to eliminate and redesign another logo. This event is proof that popular opinion influences brands irrespective of how great or small. Binance’s official response to the query of her followers appears to be a good damage control strategy. It may also cause a more deliberate and thorough evaluation before unveiling future emblems.
