Gabrielle Union Takes A Swipe At Terry Crews After He Spoke About Her Exit From “America’s Got Talent”

Gabrielle Union has called out her colleague, Terry Crews after he challenged her on racism allegations on the set of AGT. Terry Crews who is for the first time reacting to Union’s exit from America’s Got Talent spoke on what he believes is a wrong accusation against the organizers of the show. He, however, did not get a pleasant response from Gabrielle Union who voiced concerns about a racist culture on the reality TV set back in November.

Crews who appeared on Thursday’s “Today” show said: “I can’t speak for sexism because I am not a woman, but I can speak on behalf of any racist comments. But I didn’t experience any of that on ‘America’s Got Talent. In fact, since I ventured into the entertainment industry 20 years ago, I have never been in a place so diverse. The top 10 acts were Asian, women, younger, older, black, white. It was everything in the gamut.”

Crews pointed out that he has a lot of regard for women and even went on to say that he asked his wife what he should do about the supposed racism allegation from Gabrielle Union. “I believe you should listen to women. You should always believe what they say. So I asked my wife what I should do especially as Gabrielle Union has not publicly issued any statement about any of these allegations to this day… My wife said ‘Well, if she hasn’t issued a statement, why would you?’” he said.

Crews was asked if he had spoken to Union herself since the whole controversy started and he said that he has not. “I reached out but I’m yet to get a response,” he stated.Gabrielle Union took to Twitter the next day to defend herself and slam Crews’ comments. Although she did not mention his name in any of her tweets, it was obvious that they were targeted at him. “Truth-telling, seeking change & having MULTIPLE witnesses who bravely came out to let EVERYONE know I didn’t lie or exaggerate, really exposes people who will enthusiastically throw you under the bus, forgetting so soon who stepped up 4 their truth,” she wrote in response to a fan who tweeted “love and support” to her. Union later added “Why anyone would happily get up on TV and tell lies that NO ONE disputed….. But we already know.”

The 47-year-old has always used Twitter as a medium to speak against the injustices in the entertainment industry. Union’s contract as a judge on the AGT show was not renewed last year. It will be recalled that Union spoke up against racial insensitivity and sexism on the set of the reality show. Among the incidents she reported was an offensive joke allegedly made by Jay Leno about Korean restaurants. She also said that the network had asked her on more than one occasion to tone down her “too black” hairstyles.

The “Good deeds” actress met with NBC and the AGT production companies to discuss the allegations and the meeting according to her lasted for five hours. Union said that it was productive and that the other parties involved were willing to “take whatever next steps may be appropriate.” The December meeting prompted NBC to carry out an investigation that was supposed to wrap by the end o

f January.

Union’s response to Crew’s comments shows that the actress is displeased with the way the network is handling the investigations. Considering that “America’s Got Talent” and “Today” are both housed by NBC, Crew should have been briefed before going on air to weigh in on the debate. “Maaaaaan… We all agreed to let the investigation be completed before speaking but if we doing this… ohhhhh baby let’s gooooooooooo!” she wrote.
