Sony To Miss E3 Again As It Prepares To Unveil The PlayStation 5

Electronic giant, Sony has revealed that it will not be participating in the forthcoming E3 as it plans to launch PlayStation 5 console during the holiday season. Sony’s decision to skip the E3 2020 is coming as a surprise as many expected the electronic company to participate in the event, especially as it has revealed its plans to launch its PlayStation 5 console. This is not the first time that the company is skipping the event. It did the same last year.

The E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is one of the biggest video game conferences in the world. It is held in June every year in Los Angeles. Microsoft and Sony have always participated in the conference and as a tradition, these tech giants often use the platform to reveal their latest innovations. According to a Sony interactive spokesperson who had a chat with Verge, Sony believes that the vision of E3 2020 is not the right place for what the company has set out to achieve this year.

“We have a lot of respect for the ESA as an organization, but we at Sony do not think that the vision of the 2020 conference aligns with what we are focused on this year. As a way of developing our global events strategy in 2020, we have decided to participate in a number of consumer events across the globe. Our aim is to ensure that fans feel part of the PlayStation family and are able to play their favorite content whenever they want. We are looking forward to an exciting year with our fans as we plan to introduce new titles to PlayStation 4 and unveil the PlayStation 5,” the spokesperson said.

For some time now, the excitement and impact of the E3 have been dwindling. The attendance for last year’s event dropped significantly and it was the first time in 24 years that Sony would miss the conference. Companies like Nintendo have chosen to hold their own direct events online and they are hopeful that it will yield even better results. Since streaming has made it possible for people to now watch the news from the comfort of their home and office, the idea of holding an online event might just be easier for these companies.

Sony has not revealed if it is going to organize its own launch event for its upcoming PS5. The company has been slow about releasing real details of the console. Nothing has been said about the software lineup or the physical appearance of the console. The only thing that has been revealed is that it will support 8K graphics and ray tracing, as well as have the PS4 backward compati

During the Game Awards that held last month, Microsoft showcased its upcoming Xbox Series X and more details are expected to be revealed during E3. In a statement issued by the host of E3, the Electronic Software Association (ESA) promises that this year’s event will be thrilling and lively. It says that the show will feature new experiences, exhibitor spaces, activations, partners and programming that will interest everyone in attendance. The E3 presents an opportunity for brands to connect with video game lovers all over the world.
