Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award, or ESPY Award, is bestowed in recognition of excellence in athletics and other sports-related activities. Presently, it’s been gifted by the American broadcast television network, ABC. The first ESPY ceremony was aired in 1993. In the past ESPY Award winners used to get shortlisted exclusively through the votes from their fans. But since 2004, broadcasters, sports persons, sports executives, sportswriters and even ESPN personalities now participate in the voting process.
