Billie Eilish To Perform Theme Song For New James Bond Movie

Billie Eilish has been announced as the artist who will be performing the theme song for the 25th James Bond Film titled ‘No Time to Die.’ The 18-year-old singer who is the youngest recording artist to have performed a title song for the franchise was super excited to reveal the news to her fans. She said: “It feels great to be a part of this in every way. To be able to do a theme song to a movie that is part of such a legendary series is a big honor. James Bond is the most amazing film franchise ever to exist. I still can’t believe this.” The singer will join the ranks of notable artists to record a James Bond theme song including Madonna, Wings, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, Alicia Keys, Sam Smith, and Adele.

Eilish co-wrote the James Bond track with her brother Finneas. Speaking on how they feel about doing the song, Finneas said: “All our lives, we have been dreaming of this. Writing the theme song for a Bond film feels great. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live and Let Die. We count ourselves lucky to have been given an opportunity to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.” Finneas has collaborated with his sister on a number of songs.

Before the announcement was made on Tuesday, there had been growing speculation that Eilish would be the singer of the theme song for the 25th installment in the long-running James Bond series. The young singer had earlier posted a series of images from different Bond movies on her Instagram story. She shared about 8 of these images on her page including Halle Berry’s character in Die Another Day. The suspicions of fans were further heightened when they noticed that director Cary Joji Fukunaga follows the singer on Instagram. Fukunaga only follows 81 people on the platform and Eilish is one of them.

Fukunaga is the director of No time to Die and it is co-written by Golden Globe winner, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It is expected to be Daniel Craig’s final Bond film. The first trailer for No Time to Die was released in December and it stars Rami Malek as the primary villain in the film. The movie will be available in cinemas in the UK from April 2 and April 10 in the U.S.

Eilish’s contribution to the Bond song could put her in line for an Oscar next year. It will be recalled that Adele and Sam Smith bagged academy awards for performing the theme song for the previous two Bond films. Adele won Best Original Song for the iconic “Skyfall” in 2012 while Sam Smith won the award for his Spectre theme “Writing’s on the Wall” in 2015. Eilish will hopefully carry on the tra

dition.

The singer has been nominated for six awards in the forthcoming Grammys scheduled to hold on January 26. Eilish’s album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ proves that she is a super talented singer and songwriter. For the 18-year-old, this is only the beginning of many great things to come.
